Long Island New York

Long Island volunteer firefighters are true heroes because they put themselves in harm’s way to help others. They respond to emergencies at any hour, often with little notice. Many work full-time jobs but still answer the call for help on nights and weekends. They train hard to stay ready for fires, accidents, and storms. These volunteers risk injury and even their lives to save neighbors. They do not get paid for most of their work. Their commitment keeps communities safe and strong. Without them, many emergencies would have worse results. Their bravery and selflessness make a real difference every day.
